Ghislayne Merino Bascour

Anthropologist from the University of Chile, with over 18 years of experience in sustainability, human environment assessment, indigenous peoples, and community relations within the mining and energy industries of Chile and South America. Specializing in indigenous consultation strategies, citizen participation, cultural heritage, and socio-community risk analysis in complex and highly demanding regulatory contexts.

For 15 years at BHP, she held leadership positions, responsible for implementing the Indigenous Peoples Policy and Strategy, designing and applying the Plan in South America, and aligning projects with international standards such as ICMM and Copper Mark.

At EIS Ambiental, she leads strategic projects, including: the DMH Future Development EIA, the Operational Continuity of DGM, and the implementation of community management systems for CMVH. Furthermore, she served as Codelco's principal advisor on indigenous peoples during their entry into the lithium industry in the Atacama Salt Flat. Her work focuses on due diligence processes, applying international frameworks and standards for social performance.
